Shri B.C. Pathak, CMD, NPCIL visited NFC Hyderabad on 07th Sept’2023. At arrival he was given Guard of Honor by Central Industrial Security Force. He had discussions with senior official of NFC and briefed about the various manufacturing activities and quality aspects of products made by NFC. Following this, he was accompanied by Dr Komal Kapoor, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC to various plants of NFC. He has shown keen interest in the activities and product of NFC. He flagged off thin walled more than 23 m long Steam generator U bend tubes, first batch of Pressure Tubes and last batch of Calandria tubes for Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidut Pariyojana – 1 & 2. His visit ended with tree plantation.

NFC celebrated the 77th Independence Day in a dignified demeanor. Senior Officials and employees of NFC, Students, Parents, Teachers and Principals of Atomic Energy Central Schools, members from Union & Associations and staff of CISF attended the celebrations in large numbers.

Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman & Chief Executive unfurled the National flag. He highlighted the major achievements of NFC and mentioned that NFC has attained self-reliance in fuel production and evolved itself as a multi-faceted organization. The recent developments of NFC include indigenization of a variety of equipment, development of state-of-art automation in manufacturing & Inspection System, manufacture and supply of special tubes for the strategic applications for the Department of Atomic Energy. He also mentioned the achievements of the students of AEC Schools, Hyderabad and motivated them by giving away awards for their exemplary performance.

The colorful program included spellbound performances of patriotic dance and songs by students of AEC Schools, Hyderabad, mesmerizing parade and performances by CISF and Fire Service personnel of NFC.

An exclusive Tool Inspection Facility has been developed for carrying out the inspection of various tooling required for critical process equipments to cater the requirement of precision tubes & components manufacturing. Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC inaugurated the Tool Inspection Facility in presence of NFC Board Members on 03.08.2023. Tool Inspection Facility is equipped with Vision System, Special Purpose Machines and Multi Sensor dimensional measurement system for inspection of various components.

SC Rights Protection Society (SCRPS), NFC as a part of its “Pay Back to Society” activities has organized programs and donated school books, bags, lunch plates and other required material to the students of Mandal Parishad Primary School, Ibrahimpur village, Turkapally Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri District.

Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman &Chief Executive, NFC was the Chief Guest for the program on 24.07.2023.

Dr. Komal Kapoor spoke about the need of the education and inspired the students to surpass in the examinations at all levels and reach their goals.The Chief Guest has also advised the school authorities and parents to take keen interest in the children’s education and congratulated the Office-bearers of SC Rights Protection Society, NFC for taking up the initiative of organizing such programs in rural areas.

9th International Day of Yoga was observed in Nuclear Fuel Complex-Kota. The theme as announced by the Ministry of Ayush for the year 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” and the domestic tagline is “Har Aangan Yog”.

A 3-day workshop was organized on this occasion for NFC-Kota employees and their families.The mass yoga sessions conducted at AECS-3 ground during 19-21 June, 2023 aimed at promoting the numerous benefits of practicing yoga and to encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

On the final day, Shri P A Pratap, Project Director & DCE, NFC-Kota addressed the gathering of about 200 participants, encouraging them to develop a regular yoga & meditation practice. The event was organized by Welfare Committee, NFC-Kota, chaired by Dr. Sunil Goyal (Sr. Manager) with Disha Acharya (SO/E), Shrikant S. Bharud (APO), Abhishek Mehta (SA/E), Ved Prakash (T/F) and Yudhveer Singh (T/D) as members.

Vacuum Baking Oven is used for baking of Graphite Coated PHWR fuel tubes. This is a batch type furnace. As a part of enhancement of plant installed capacity and meet the future demand for PHWR fuel assemblies, new vacuum Baking Oven procured with advanced features like operation through HMI, state of the art vacuum measuring smart gauges, latest PID controllers, OTC controllers, thermocouples, etc. the furnace is procured, installed, commissioned and qualified. It is inaugurated on 20.06.2023 by Dr.Komal Kapoor, Chairman and Chief Executive of NFC. The furnace is put into regular production.

NFC celebrated its Annual Day culminating the Golden Jubilee Year on 8th June 2023.

Shri Dinesh Kumar Shukla, Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) was the Chief Guest and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, CMD, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) was the Guest of Honour for the Event.

Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chief Executive, NFC, highlighting the major achievements of NFC, has mentioned that NFC attained self reliance in fuel production and evolved itself as a multi faceted organization. The recent developments of NFC include indigenization of a variety of equipment, development of state-of-art automated machining centres & Inspection System, automation in production lines, manufacture and supply of special tubes for the strategic applications of the Departments of Atomic Energy.

Dr. Kapoor has stated the progress of a Greenfield Project "NFC-Kota", being set up by NFC at Rawatbhata, Rajasthan for meeting the fuel requirements of forthcoming 700 MWe PHWRs. There has been significant progress in the project activities during the last one year. Recently, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission & Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy has witnessed the demonstration of first fuel assembly and handed over the first fuel bundle to the Chairman & Managing Director, NPCIL.

Dr. Jha, in his address, has appreciated and congratulated NFC for its achievements. He said that NFC has set a benchmark for production of different products and materials with highest quality and is a pride of India. Imprint of NFC could be found in Defence and Space Programs. Many of the imported components are indigenized together by MIDHANI and NFC.

Shri Shukla has congratulated NFC for its sustained production activities and excellent performance over the years. He also highlighted the vital role of NFC in the Nuclear Power Program of the Country. This could be realized due to effective utilization of skills to full extent, coping with changes and adaptive to Technological advancements. He said that several initiatives have been taken by AREB and implemented for effective regulation of various Nuclear Facilities across the country. He also emphasized the importance of self regulation, innovation, motivation and graded approach for the success of an Organization.

On this occasion, a compendium highlighting the major achievements of NFC during the last five decades was released.

Representatives of various Unions / Associations of NFC like Industrial Workers Union, Supervisory Staff Association, Scientific Assistants Association and Officers Association have spoken on this occasion and assured their cooperation in all endeavors of NFC. Former Chief Executives, senior retired Officers and large number of employees of NFC have witnessed the celebrations.

One day Hindi workshop was organized on 13.05.2023 for the officials working in Administration, Accounts and various Plants for the quarter April-June, 2023 at Nuclear Fuel Complex.

Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop, Shri N. Vijayaraghavan, Deputy Chief Executive (Administration & Accounts), Dr. R. Murugaiah, Chief Administrative Officer, Smt Malini Suresh, Joint Controller (Finance & Accounts) and Shri Kamaluddin, Retd. Assistant Director (Training), Hindi Teaching Scheme, Secunderabad appealed to all to dispose off their official work maximum in Hindi.

On this occasion, various lectures related to Hindi were organized. Shri Kamaluddin deliver lecture on the topic Technical Terminology and Sentence Formation whereas Dr. Rani Gitesh Kate, Hindi Officer, South Central Railway, Secunderabad deliver on the topic Official Language Policy, Official Language Rules and Acts and Dr. Ravichandra Rao, Lecturer, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Secunderabad on Noting and Drafting in Hindi.

World Day for safety and health at work – 2023 was organized in NFC on 28.04.2023 to create awareness on the importance of ensuring safe and healthy work environments. Shri V.V. Mahesh Kumar, DCE (Safety, HPU,TLD& HR) welcomed the gathering.

Dr. D.S.Setty, Dy. Chief Executive (Utilities, EPC & SR.) and Chairman (Safety Committee), NFC has addressed the gathering, suggested to follow the best practices at workplaces.

Chief Guest of the event, Dr.Komal Kapoor, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC delivered the key note address on this year theme “A safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work.” He advised about the importance of awareness against occupational hazards, illness and accidents / incidents at work place. He insisted that maintaining of better safe and healthy environment safety at works place is everyone’s responsibility.

DCEs and other senior officials of NFC participated in the event. On the eve of this programme, safety quiz competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners of competition.

132nd Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was celebrated at NFC.

The new statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was unveiled at NFC main Gate by Dr. Komal Kapoor in the presence of Group Heads and employees of NFC.

Prof. R. Limbadri, Chairman, Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), was the Chief Guest. He spoke extensively on the life and contributions of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Dr. Komal kapoor spoke about the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and stated that the country is indebted to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar forever for drafting the Indian Constitution.

The Group Heads of NFC, Representatives of SC/ST Associations and other Associations of NFC have spoke about the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Employees in large numbers have participated in the Celebrations and paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

52nd National safety day was celebrated in Nuclear Fuel Complex. The theme as announced by the National Safety Council of India is ‘Our Aim – Zero Harm’. Safety day celebrations at NFC highlighted the responsibility of individuals in following the rules and regulations without fail for improving the safety.

Dr. D.S. Setty, Dy. Chief Executive (Utilities, EPC & SR.) and Chairman (Safety Committee), NFC addressed the gathering. The gathering was also addressed by representatives of employees.

Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC while delivering keynote address, appreciated the efforts of all the employees of NFC-Hyderabad in improving the safety culture at work area, reduction in number of incidents when compared with previous years. At the same time, he advised all the employees to be more vigilant at work areas in following safe work practices, responsibility of followings Standard Operating Procedures, identifying the hazards, risks in their work area and taking of immediate corrective actions to prevent any untoward incidents.

Prizes were distributed to the plants for their contribution in following best safe practices and housekeeping. During safety day campaign various safety competitions like quiz, spot the hazards, slogan and essay writing in Telugu, Hindi and English; drawing of poster contests were organized for the employees. Prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions.

Hindi workshop for the quarter January-March, 2023 was conducted on 04/03/2023 for 25 officers working in various sections of Administration and Accounts sections of NFC.

Official Language talk of Dr. Ravi Chandra Rao, Lecturer, Hindi Teaching Scheme (HTS) on the topic ‘Implementation of Official Language at Officer Level’ was covered extensively in order to draw personal attention of officers towards Official Language Policy of Government of India. Besides, a special talk of Dr. Shalabh Saxena, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), NFC was arranged on the topic “Prevention of Heart Attack”.

74th Republic Day was jointly celebrated by NFC, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Atomic Energy Central (AEC) Schools on 26.01.2023. Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC was the Chief Guest. He hoisted the National flag and inspected the parade. Parade Commander Shri Rahul Singh Gautam, Commandant, CISF accompanied him.

AEC School children gave the speeches. Demonstration of the dog squad and drill were conducted by CISF. NFC Fire Service personnel presented fire drill during the celebrations.

Senior officers and representatives of various unions & associations of NFC have participated in the celebrations. Also, a large number of employees, colony residents and students of AEC School attended the program.

World Hindi Day was celebrated in NFC on 10.01.2023. In his inaugural remarks, Dr Komal Kapoor, Chief Executive, NFC stressed upon to use Official Language to maximum extent in day to day official work. At the outset, Shri N. Vijayaragvan, Deputy Chief Executive (Admn & Accts) welcomed the dignitaries and participants present in the function and appealed to dispose of official work in Hindi. Shri Syed Irfan Ali, Assistant Director (OL) briefed the importance of World Hindi Day and appraised the implementation status of official language in NFC.

On this Occasion, a lecture of Dr P.K. Jain, Associate Director, International Advance Research Center, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India was arranged on the Topic “Indian Culture and its Science.” Besides, prizes were distributed among the winners of various competitions conducted during HINDI FORTNIGHT-2022.

Smt Sangeeta R. Nakhwa, Administrative Officer-III presented vote of thanks. Shri Mohd. Majid, Smt Soni Rawat, Smt P. Sharada and Kum Deepika contributed actively for the success of programme.

New buildings / sheds are constructed to cater to higher production requirements. The buildings mainly consist of Store Rooms, Change Rooms, Wash Rooms, Office Rooms, Conference Room and Wash Rooms. Also the area around the shed is developed by constructing Concrete Road, Foot Path, Stone Pitching and Storm Water Drains.

Nuclear Fuel Complex in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organized the 7th International Conference on Characterization and Quality Control of Nuclear Fuels (CQCNF) -2022, at Homi J. Bhabha Convention Centre, Hyderabad, during 17th- 19th November, 2022. The conference was attended by over 250 delegates from various Atomic Energy Establishments and premier educational institutes of India, Canada, Russia, Kazakhstan, Spain, USA and Iran. The conference was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Shri G. Nageswara Rao, Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, India. Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC, Shri Kailash Agarwal, Fuel Cycle Specialist, IAEA, Dr. C.K. Asnani, CMD, UCIL, Dr. D.K. Sinha, Director, AMD, Shri D. Pramanik, ACE, NFC and Dr. Komal Kapoor, ACE, NFC, addressed the gathering. The theme of the Conference was “Characterization of Nuclear Fuel for enhanced Quality, Performance and Safety”. Over 60 papers, covering Fuel Design and Fabrication, Characterization, NDT and Automation, were presented in the conference. Special emphasis was given on various innovations carried out in manufacture and quality control of nuclear fuel and structural components, for enhanced performance in nuclear reactors and achieve “Zero Fuel Failures”. The emerging global scenario of nuclear power and supplies of nuclear materials in the context of growing need for clean and green technologies, with a view of achieving the goal of Zero Carbon content was also widely deliberated upon. The conference provided an excellent opportunity for wide ranging discussions amongst specialists in various fields of nuclear engineering.

Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad is very active in conducting several health and wellbeing programs for the benefit of employees and their family members like regular fitness, yoga sessions and health workshops etc.,.

As per DAE, NFC organized 6th DAE National Conference on Yoga from 12th – 13th November 2022 and the theme chosen for the conference is “Yoga for Absolute Fitness-Mind & Body”.

Anantsree Swamy Vijayananda puri ji Maaharaj, Dwadash Acharya Mahamandaleswar, Shree Kailash Ashram, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand was the chief guest of event. Rear Admiral (Retd) Sanjay Chaube, Former CMD, ECIL was the Guest of Honour for the Occasion. Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive of NFC graced the occasion.

Eminent speakers from different parts of country belonging to various institutions which are in the field of Yoga since many years were invited to this National Yoga Conference Eminent persons. Dr. A.L.V. Kumar Reddy, has introduced all the eminent speakers to the gathering.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Chairman & Managing Director, Midhani, Dr. Archana Sharma, Secretary, DAE Sports & Cultural Council and senior officials from various DAE units was the graced occasion.

Participation of delegates in large number in this yoga conference and received a very positive feedback from all the participants. Around 370 participants from DAE units and 250 participants from other institutions participated in the event.

During this event, Dr. Homi J Bhabha Convention Center Annex was inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive NFC.

A cultural programme was performed on 12.11.2022 evening by Dr. V. Ramachandra Murthy, eminent flute artist and his team.

The valedictory function was held on 13.11.2022 with panel discussion and detailed question answer session that was chaired by Shri R. K. Chaube, Dy.Cheif Executive, QA, NFC and Shri G.N. Ganesha, GM (STP & TRTP). Shri Jagdish Ram Jat, SM, QA-MI proposed Vote of Thanks.

Extension of production building is Structural Steel Pre-Engineered Building. This facility is constructed to cater to the production requirements for the upcoming 10 nuclear reactors and boost Made-In-India program.

Nuclear Fuel Complex has indigenously developed Automated Billet Handling System for the existing Deep Hole Drilling machine. The system was inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC at a function held on 07.10.2022.

The Automated Billet Handling System automates various manual operations billet loading, unloading staking, etc. and increases productivity of preparation of billet. The new system is aptly commemorating with NFC's vision of automation in India’s "Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" and "50 years" journey of operation.

Hindi Fortnight was celebrated in Nuclear Fuel Complex for the period from 14/09/2022 to 29/09/2022.

As a part of Hindi Fortnight-2022, a total 07 competitions such as General Knowledge, Essay writing in Hindi, Hindi typing on computer, Sulekhan exclusively for Work Assistants, Hindi language, grammar and its usage, Slogan in Hindi on Official language and Singing were conducted during the period. These competitions are popular in NFC. Officials from different plants / sections had participated in large numbers with full enthusiasm and tested their knowledge through Hindi in different fields.

नाभिकीय ईंधन सम्मिश्र में प्रशासन एवं लेखा संयंत्रों में कार्यरत कुल 29 पदाधिकारियों हेतु दिनांक 03/09/2022 एक पूर्ण दिवसीय हिंदी कार्यशाला का आयोजन किया गया। विषय जैसे ‘हिंदी में टिप्पण एवं आलेखन’, ‘हिंदी भाषा एवं उसके प्रयोग, संबंधित व्याकरण एवं अभ्यास’, ‘संघ की राजभाषा नीति’ और ‘हिंदी में कार्य करने हेतु पऊवि प्रोत्साहन योजना’ इस कार्यशाला के भाग थे। इसके अतिरिक्त, ‘पीएचडब्ल्यूआर ईंधन संविरचन’ विषय पर श्री एस.के.पाठक, महाप्रबंधक, सीएफएफपी-ए का एक विशेष व्याख्यान आयोजित किया गया।.

A full day Hindi workshop was conducted on 03.09.2022 for 29 officials working in Administration and Accounts in Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Hyderabad.

Subjects such as ‘Noting and Drafting in Hindi’, ‘Hindi language and its uses, related grammar and practice’, ‘OL Policy of the Union’ and DAE Incentive Scheme for doing work in Hindi were part of the workshop. Besides, a special talk of Shri S.K. Pathak, General Manager, CFFP-A was arranged on the topic "PHWR Fuel Fabrication". Shri N.Vijayaragavan, Deputy Chief Executive (Admn. & Accts.); Smt Malini Suresh, Joint Controller (Finance & Accounts); Smt M. Pushpa Rekha, AO-III (PR/Tpt./OL); Shri Syed Irfan Ali, Assistant Director (OL) and Dr. Ravi Chandra Rao, lecturer, Hindi Teaching Scheme addressed the participants.

Shri Mohd. Majid, Smt. Soni Rawat, P. Sharda and Ms. Deepika have contributed enthusiastically for the success of the workshop.

नाभिकीय ईंधन सम्मिश्र (नाईंस), हैदराबाद में विभिन्न संयंत्रों एवं अनुभाग में कार्यरत कुल 11 पदाधिकारियों के लिए अगस्त, 2022 – जनवरी, 2023 सत्र हेतु राजभाषा विभाग, गृह मंत्रालय, भारत सरकार के अंतर्गत हिंदी टंकण प्रशिक्षण की कक्षाएं प्रारंभ की गईं। इस प्रशिक्षण की अवधि 06 महीने की है और अंतिम परीक्षा जनवरी, 2023 में आयोजित की जाएगी।.

Hindi Typing Training Classes for the Session August 2022 - January 2023 have been commenced for 11 officials of NFC under Hindi Teaching Scheme, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The duration of the Training is 6 months and Final examination will be conducted by January, 2023.

दिनांक 26.09.2022 को उद्घाटन सत्र का आयोजन किया गया जिसे नाईंस के मुख्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारी डॉ.आर.मुरुगय्या, नाईंस की संयुक्त नियंत्रक (वित्त एवं लेखा) श्रीमती मालिनी सुरेश, नाईंस की प्रशासनिक अधिकारी (जसं/परि./रा.भा.) एम.पुष्पा रेखा, हिंदी शिक्षण योजना के सहायक निदेशक (हिंदी टंकण/आशुलिपि) श्री संतोष कुमार और नाईंस के सहायक निदेशक (राजभाषा) श्री सैयद इरफ़ान अली ने संबोधित किया। इस कार्यक्रम के सफल आयोजन हेतु श्री मोहम्मद माजिद, श्रीमती सोनी रावत, श्रीमती पी.शारदा और सुश्री दीपिका ने सक्रिय योगदान दिया।.

The Inaugural function of the OCES:2022-23 (22nd Batch) of BARC Training School NFC was organized on 20th August, 2022. Dr.Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC graced the occasion and welcomed the fresh batch of Training School Officers (TSO). Smt K S Lakshmi, GM (BARC TS) gave the welcome address and Shri M K Yadav, GM (HR) briefed the TSOs about the Training School activities. In all, 12 Training School Officers (TSOs), in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical & Quality Assurance disciplines joined this year’s Training Programme. Seniors officers and TSOs from 21st batch participated in the event.

Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) along with National Union of Journalists (NUJ) of India has organised a workshop on “Atomic Energy: Pace towards Net Zero Emission of CO2” for about 45 Journalists from different parts of the country during 20-23 July 2022. NFC, Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMDER), Electronics Corporation of India (ECIL) and Uranium Corporation of India (UCIL) were the cosponsoring units of DAE.

The curtain raiser programme was held on 20.07.2022 in NFC. Dr Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of atoms in our day-to-day life apart from power production. The gathering was also addressed by Dr D.K. Sinha, Director, AMDER; Rear Admiral Sanjay Chaube (Retd), CMD, ECIL; Shri P.K. Parhi, GM (Projects-South), UCIL and Dr R.K. Vatsa, Head, Public Awareness Division, DAE.

Dr R.K. Vatsa made a presentation to the audience about DAE activities.

Presentations on various topics were made during 21.07.2022-22.07.2022 at AMDER. An exhibition of products and services from different units of DAE was organized in AMD. Industrial visit to ECIL was organized on 22.07.2022.

The valedictory function was held on 23.07.2022 at NFC with panel discussion and detailed question answer session that was chaired by Unit Heads of NFC, AMD, ECIL; GM (UCIL) and Head (PAD); Ms Vichitra Sharma, Sr. Journalist & Workshop Coordinator, NUJ ; V Rajendranath, Sr. Journalist, Vice president, NUJ school of Journalism.

NFC has celebrated Golden Jubilee Year 2021-22 on 7th and 8th June 2022. Dr Anil Kakodkar, Member (Atomic Energy Commission), Chancellor (HBNI), Chairman (RGST), Former Chairman (Atomic Energy Commission) & Secretary (DAE) was Chief Guest for the function.

On 7th June 2022, Dr Kakodkar visited various plants of NFC; witness the processes, equipments, and various products of NFC. He took keen interest in the technological developments and interacted with officers of NFC. He also inaugurated 2 Nos of newly commissioned Tube Grinding Equipments. Shri Vikash Kumar, Scientific Assistant (D) presented self-drawn sketch of Dr Kakodkar. In the evening, Dr Kakodkar attended the Awards Function and Cultural Program and presented NFC Golden Jubilee Awards to staff for their meritorious performance. The dances and songs were presented by various artists.

On 8th June 2022, celebration started with Guard of Honor by CISF to Dr Kakodkar. Welcome address was given by Shri D Pramanik, Additional Chief Executive (Fuels, FRF, MS, ISO & Mktg). Representatives of various unions and associations address the gathering. Shri K Balramamoorthy, former Chief Executive and Dr Kakodkar were felicitated on the occasion. "NFC Highlights 2021-22" magazine and "NFC Golden Jubilee" memento were released. NFC officials were awarded with Chief Executive Golden Jubilee Awards. Shri Raman Kumar, Scientific Officer (E) and Shri Amit Patil, Technician (F) recited the self-composed poems. Dr Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive address the gathering and he elaborated various activities undertaken by NFC as well as achievements of NFC. Shri N Vijayaraghavan, Dy Chief Executive (A&A) read the bio-data of Dr Kakodkar. Dr Kakodakar while addressing the gathering stress upon the role and need of Nuclear Energy in future development of India. Also he emphasized on the three stage program of Nuclear Energy as envisaged by Dr Homi J Bhabha. Dr Komal Kapoor, Dy Chief Executive (FT, SSTP, EPP & Medical) presented the vote of thanks.

World Environment Day-2022 was celebrated at NFC on 06-06-2022. The programme started with lightening of lamp followed by invocation song by Smt. U. Swathi.

Welcome Address was given by Shri S. Sairam, DCE (QA,EPC&HR). He shared his views on environment protection.

Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chief Executive and Chairman, NFC delivered talk on the environment with focus on initiatives taken by NFC regarding environment protection.

Activities of EPC&EM section were presented by officers of the section.

Smt. Madhulika S Choudhary founder Dhruvansh organization, an NGO working on revival of lakes, was invited as Chief Guest. She has delivered a talk on "Ecosystem Restoration".

Essay writing and poster presentation competitions were conducted for various categories of NFC employees and prizes were distributed during the function.

Propaganda material depicting this year’s theme was distributed to all employees of NFC.

Nuclear Fuel Complex has indigenously developed Automated Billet UT System which is installed in-line with Automated Machining Centre. The system employs immersion technique as against manual contact technique, thus improving inspection reliability.

The system was inaugurated Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC at a function held on 04.06.2022.

हिंदी में प्राज्ञ स्तर का ज्ञान रखने वाले पदाधिकारियों को सरकारी काम हिंदी में करने में दक्ष बनाने हेतु अभ्यास आधारित नया पाठ्यक्रम पारंगत नाभिकीय ईंधन सम्मिश्र में प्रारंभ किया गया है। तदनुसार, हिंदी शिक्षण योजना, भारत सरकार के अंतर्गत जुलाई-नवंबर, 2021 सत्र में आयोजित प्रथम बैच में कुल 22 पदाधिकारियों ने सफलतापूर्वक प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त कर दिनांक 18.11.2021 को अपनी अंतिम परीक्षा में उपस्थित हुए थे। पुनश्च, जनवरी-मई 2022 के सत्र की अवधि में द्वितीय सत्र में 28 पदाधिकारियों को प्रशिक्षित किया गया जो 19.05.2022 को अंतिम परीक्षा में उपस्थित हुए।.

Hindi PARANGAT, a practice based new course was introduced in NFC to make officials more efficient to do their day to day official work in Hindi who have acquired PRAGYA level working knowledge in Hindi. Total 22 officials in 1st batch were completed training successfully under Hindi Teaching Scheme of Government of India for the session July-November, 2021 and appeared their final examination held on 18/11/2021. Further, 28 officials were trained in 2nd Batch during the session Jan-May-2022. They have appeared final examination on 19/05/2022.

इस कार्यशाला में संघ की राजभाषा नीति, हिंदी में टिप्पण एवं आलेखन, हिंदी व्याकरण, भाषा का प्रयोग एवं लेखन अभ्यास, “राजभाषा हिंदी और हम” आदि विषयों पर विभिन्न व्याख्यान शामिल किए गये।

नाईंस की संयुक्त निदेशक (वित्त एवं लेखा) श्रीमती मालिनी सुरेश ने मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उद्घाटन सत्र को संबोधित किया और सरकारी कार्यों विशेषकर टिप्पणी एवं आलेखन में हिंदी के प्रयोग पर बल दिया। विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में प्रतिभागियों को संबोधित करते हुए नाईंस की प्रशासनिक अधिकारी-III (जन सपर्क/परिवहन/राजभाषा) श्रीमती एम.पुष्पा रेखा ने दैनंदिन सरकारी कार्यों में हिंदी के प्रगामी प्रयोग को सुनिश्चित करने की अपील की ताकि राजभाषा विभाग द्वारा वार्षिक कार्यक्रम में निर्धारित लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त किया जा सके। हिंदी शिक्षण योजना के प्रध्यापक डॉ. रवि चंद्रा राव ने इस अवसर पर अपने विचार व्यक्त किए। इसके अतिरिक्त, श्रीमती अनुराधा पांडेय, अनुवाद अधिकारी, एएसएल, डीआरडीओ, हैदराबाद को “राजभाषा हिंदी और हम” विषय पर व्याख्यान देने हेतु आमंत्रित किया गया।

प्रारंभ में, नाईंस के सहायक निदेशक (राजभाषा) श्री सैयद इरफान अली ने कार्यशाला के महत्व, उद्देश्य एवं प्रयोजनों पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। इस कार्यशाला को सफल बनाने में श्रीमती सोनी रावत, आशुलिपिक (हिंदी), पी.शारदा, कार्य सहायक/बी और सुश्री दीपिका ने सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई।

A full day Hindi workshop was conducted at NFC on 12.05.2022 for 34 officials working in Administration and Accounts section of NFC.

Various topics such as Official Language (OL) Policy of the Union, Noting and Drafting in Hindi, Hindi Grammar, Hindi Language and its uses and Practice, "OL Hindi & We" were included in the workshop.

Smt Malini Suresh, JC (F&A), NFC as a Chief Guest addressed the inaugural session and stressed to use Hindi in official works especially in Noting & Drafting. As a Guest of Honour, Smt M. Pushpa Rekha, AO-III, NFC appealed the participants to ensure the progressive use of Hindi in day to day official works so as to achieve the targets fixed by the Department of Official Language in its Annual Programme. Dr. Ravi Chandra Rao, Lecturer, Hindi Teaching Scheme (HTS) has expressed his views on this occasion. Further, Smt Anuradha Pandey, Translation Officer, ASL, DRDO, Hyderabad was invited to deliver the lecture on the topic "Official Language Hindi & We".

At the outset, Shri Syed Irfan Ali, Assistant Director (OL), NFC highlighted the importance, aim and purpose of the workshop. Smt Soni Rawat, Steno (Hindi), P. Sharda, WA/B, Ms. Deepika, etc. contributed actively for the success of the workshop.

Nuclear Fuel Complex has indigenously developed new State-of-Art Automated Machining Center contributing to Govt. of India’s initiative “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”. The machining center was inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman and Chief Executive of NFC at a function held on 10.05.2022.

The Automated Machining Center is a group machining cell consists of five working stations with integrated automatic material handling by Gantry and controlled by SCADA system. The system is used for automated machining of Billets of various sizes and grades with complete automation with multi-folds improved productivity and variety. From Manual machines to completely automated operations, the new machine is aptly commemorating India’s “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and “50 years” journey of operation of NFC.

World Day for safety and health at work – 2022 was organized in NFC on 28.04.2022 and was attended by about 150 personnel. Shri V.V. Mahesh Kumar, GM (Safety, HPU & TLD) welcomed the gathering.

Shri Sudhir Thakur, DCE (Zr, SM, ZC & Melting) delivered the key note address and advised for compliance with safety procedures right from the home to work place. He also advised the participants to spread the safety message to their colleagues.

Dr. R. Murugaiah, CAO appealed to all workmen to be vigilant in their work for safety. Shri G. Naveen Kumar, IRO and Shri K. Vinod, Welfare Officer also attended the programme. On the eve of this programme, safety quiz competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed. The programme concluded with the rendering of National Anthem.

Nuclear Fuel Complex has indigenously developed new State-of-Art Automated Machine Vision System for visual and dimensional measurement of PHWR Profile End Caps which are used to encapsulate nuclear fuel.

Another vision based inspection system for simultaneous measurement of end chamfer is developed indigenously in collaboration with RRCAT.

The systems were inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman and Chief Executive of NFC at a function held on 27.04.2022.

131st Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R.Ambedkar was celebrated by NFC. Dr. Gali Vinod Kumar, Dean – Faculty of Law & Professor, Osmania University was the Chief Guest and Shri. D.Pramanik, Additional Chief Executive, NFC was the Guest of Honour.

Dr. Gali Vinod Kumar,the Chief Guest, spoke extensively on the life and contributions of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who has struggled throughout his life for eradicating Socio-economic inequalities existing in our society and advocated women empowerment. He also reiterated that Dr. Ambedkar is a National Leader, the great son of India and should not be aligned with particular community.

Shri Pramanik spoke about the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and mentioned that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is a universal personality belongs to all. Representatives of various Associations of NFC have spoke about the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Employees in large numbers have participated in the Celebrations and paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R.Ambedkar.

NFC has observed the National Fire Service Week. During the week, Banners & Posters were displayed at various locations. Fire Tender with crew made a round in all the plants and DAE colony for awareness to the public.

Various awareness competitions were conducted. The fire safety quiz, poster, spot the fire hazard, slogan (in Hindi, Telugu & English) and Essay (in Hindi, Telugu & English) competitions were conducted for employees. Rescue cum pump drill & Breathing Apparatus set wearing drill competitions were conducted for fire service employees. Hose laying drill competition was conducted for CISF employees. The fire safety quiz, poster, slogan (in Hindi & English) and Essay (in Hindi & English) competition was conducted for students of Atomic Energy Central Schools.

Valedictory function was held on 20th April 2022. Shri Sudhir Kumar Sharma, DCFO has given brief report on Fire Service activities during the year 2021. Representatives of union and associations gave attractive speeches on fire safety. Dr. D S Setty, DCE (Utls & SR) address about fire service developments and Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC gave key note address and distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions. Shri S A K Sagar, SO/B anchored the program and Shri Raju Tawne, SO/D proposed vote of thanks.

Nuclear Fuel Complex organised 36th DAE Football tournament from March - 27th to 31st, 2022 at Milkha Singh Kreeda Prangan, DAE Colony, Hyderabad. The tournament was inaugurated on 27-03-2022 by Chief Guest Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Distinguished Scientist, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC and guest of honour Rear Admiral Sanjay Chaubey (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of ECIL.

Eight DAE Teams viz. Rameshwaram, Pushkar, Nagarjuna, Golkonda, Ajanta, Ellora, Dwaraka and Konark participated in the tournament. The matches were played initially on League cum Knock out basis in 2 groups, then semi-finals and final. The matches were conducted by Telangana Football Association / Umpires / Referees. Shri Stalin was Chief referee and Shri Satyajeet Choudhary, BARC, Mumbai was External observer.

After march-past and oath taking ceremony, 1st inaugural match was played between Konark vs Rameshwaram. Semi finals were played between Konark & Dwarka and Ajanta & Ellora on 30-03-2022. Final was played between Konark & Ajanta on 31-03-2022. Konark won the tournament. All the matches were witnessed and enjoyed thoroughly by huge audience.

Valedictory function was organized immediately after completing the final match. The chief Guest of the Valedictory function Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive of NFC and Guest of Honour Shri G P. Palguna, Secretary Telangana Football Association gave the prizes. Other dignitaries were Shri D Pramanik, Chairman (Organizing Committee), Shri D. Sreedhar, Chairman (Reception-Transport & Accommodation Committee), Smt M Rajasri, Chairperson (Tournament Committee), Shri G N Ganesha, Chairman (Works Committee) and Shri S K Pathak, Chairman (Catering Committee). Many senior officers and representatives from unions / associations of NFC attended the program. Vote of thanks proposed by Shri Jagdish Ram Jat, Chairman (Sports Sub-Committee).

51st National safety day was celebrated in Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad on 4th March. This year, the National Safety Council of India announced the theme to be ‘Nurture young minds - Develop safety culture’. Safety day celebrations at NFC highlighted the requirement of automation, compliance with safety regulations and measures to avoid workplace incidents.

The gathering was addressed by representatives of employees. Shri D. Pramanik Addl. Chief Executive (Fuels, MPS, MS & Mktg.) and Chairman (Safety Committee), NFC addressed the gathering.

Dr Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC while delivering keynote address, congratulated all the employees of NFC-Hyderabad for working without reportable accident all through the years 2018, 2020, 2021 and for winning the AERB Industrial safety Award for the year 2020. Two booklets on (i) PPE and (ii) Information and safety instructions to visitors were released by CE, NFC on the occasion.

Awards were distributed to the plants for their contribution in following best safe practices and housekeeping. During safety day campaign various safety competitions like quiz, spot the hazards, slogan and essay writing in Telugu, Hindi and English; drawing of poster contests were organized for the employees. Prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions.

The programme was also telecast through electronic dash boards in NFC plants for virtual participation by employees.

Nuclear Fuel Complex is the only organization in India manufacturing the fuel required for Nuclear Power Reactors. The process requires many Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) which are unique in nature. NFC has taken up Indigenous Development & Manufacturing of SPMs for NFC-Kota. The first consignment consisting of 5 Nos of Integrated Spacer & Bearing Pad Welding Units & 1 No of Advanced Shear Strength Testing Machine was flagged off by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Distinguished Scientist, Chairman and Chief Executive, NFC on 16-03-2022.

This is a giant step towards establishing Fuel Fabrication Facility at NFC-Kota and significant achievement commemorating India’s “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.

The building was inaugurated on 04.03.2022. This building is Ground + 2 Floors having goods lift facility and extension of CFFP (Assembly) area. The building is for Interim storage of fuel bundles (for QCC) ASRS (Automatic Storage & Retrieval System); Bundle Final Inspection; Bundle sleeving, sealing & packing in metallic boxes; Bundle re-inspection; bundle production; tube storage and cabins for the senior officers, conference room, pantry, etc.

Major challenges was matching the width with existing building & connectivity with existing building at each floor and converting ground floor connecting various rooms / labs / air washing area, chillers etc. into two larger areas suitable for bundle inspection, packing etc.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) blocks were used in place of conventional clay bricks to reduce structural loads and for better environmental features like increased acoustics, less water absorption, more floor area etc. Structural glazing above portico and for emergency staircases on either ends has enhanced the aesthetics of the building.

“Swachhata se Suraksha” Creating Theme Park in Plant areas.

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India. Nuclear Fuel Complex celebrated Swachhata Pakhwada from 16-02-2022 to 28-02-2022 during which a 5k Walkathon was organized on 19-02-2022. Around 1500 employees participated in this walkathon which started from South Gate, NFC, with garlanding of Homi J. Bhabha bust by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chief Executive, NFC.

On the route of walkathon following facilities were inaugurated by Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, CE, NFC.

  1. A 17000 kL capacity lake for rain water holding with proper pitching, fencing and greenery,
  2. A theme park named as Mendeleeve Garden,
  3. Tree plantation,
  4. A theme park named Knoll-Ruska Udyan,
  5. A roof top solar power unit of 10 kilo Watt Peak (kWp) capacity,
  6. An advance & high capacity Active Laundry facility.
  7. The walkathon came to its concluding point as everyone reached the Bamboo garden & Exercise Ground. Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, CE, NFC praised the efforts of all employees from various sections of NFC for their active involvement in the Swachh Bharat Mission. He urged on the needs and benefits of keeping the workplace clean and green.

73rd Republic Day jointly celebrated by NFC, CISF and AEC Schools on 26.01.2022. Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC was the Chief Guest and unfurled the National flag.

Dr. Dinesh Srivastava, Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC wished all on 73rd Republic Day celebrations signifying the importance of adoption of the Constitution of India on this day. In his speech, he highlighted the major achievements of NFC and how the production targets were reached in spite of Covid-19 pandemic. He congratulated everyone on getting NFC conferred with the prestigious Swachhata Pakhwada Award 2021 consecutively for the second time and attained 1st Rank amongst all the DAE units. He congratulated the Principals of AECS 1 & 2 for conducting the online classes to the students and ensuring continuity in academics.

Due to COVID-19 and guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs, the celebrations were restricted to Sr. Officers, and Principals & School Teachers. Norms for Covid-19 were followed during the function.
